Duties & Responsibilities:
Technical Services
  • Generate technical service revenue and prepare quotes for technology systems use in the facility based on client needs, then send approved quote from client to the appropriate sales associate to enter in EventPro software. 
  • Must be able to follow instructions on a BEO (Banquet Event Order) and adhere to client timelines.    
  • Attend to customer requests, helping to retrieve and set up additional A/V items on the day of an event, and in coordination with other management and sales staff.
  • Perform, coordinate and oversee the maintenance of all in house technical sound, lighting, audio video. 
  • Maintain the department’s areas of work such as stage, technical areas, storage spaces, stage loading bay & artist entrance.
  • Coordinate and oversee all sound, lighting and audio video technical services provided for events and clients by the MTCC.
  • Manage the safety of the environment for clients, guests & staff at all times.
  • Schedule, train (as required) and manage the duties of all house technicians and casual crew employed to assist with technical services for entertainment events, conference services, etc.
 
General
  • Assist with recruitment, performance management, and provide all necessary support and training to your staff while promoting teamwork, cooperation and communication.
  • Prepare weekly cheque requisitions to be signed by Sales Manager or Food & Beverage Services Manager.
  • Work with Sales Manager to develop departmental objectives.
  • Assist with development and management of technical policies and procedures for the MTCC.
  • Maintain proactive participation in community committees and professional organizations that may benefit the facility and/or promote tourism.
  • Report any problems or incidents to the Sales Manager
  • All duties common to the A/V Technician Services Manager position and/or as requested by the Management Team.
  • Promote inter-department unity by building and maintaining strong working relationships with all MTCC Managers and their staff.
  • Responsible for creating a positive guest experience. Smile and be helpful and friendly.
  • Must be courteous and professional toward guests and co-workers.
  • Must be well groomed and appropriately dressed as per policy.
  • Must adhere to media relations policies.
  • Adhere to all company policies.
  • Required to report any incidents, such as theft, injuries, etc.
  • Adhere to the Building Fire Procedure and evacuation plan.
  • Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations.
 
Other Responsibilities
  • Maintain positive relationships with Membertou’s Internal and External Customers, ensuring transactions or information received on behalf of the Band and/or its members are kept confidential.
  • Maintain and improve Membertou’s Quality Management System as it relates to job related duties and/or department.
  • Other department related duties as required by the Manager.
 
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in an Audio Visual/Technical Services position is required. 
  • Strong knowledge and experience with set up and operation of audio visual equipment including stage & event lighting, all audio systems small & large, backline, video & voice conference systems, projection systems, lap top computers, smart carts, displays & TVs.
  • A solid understanding of event logistics & industry terms.
  • Computer literate with both Mac and PC. Experience with EventPro, MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and audio/video editing softwares.
  • Electrical knowledge in basic wiring and reference terms.
  • Basic knowledge of Musical instruments both acoustic and digital (names/brands/type).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in written format.
  • Quick thinking and decision-making abilities to solve problems as they arise.
  • Ability to manage time and meet required deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player.
  • Ability to multi-task with high energy during shows and events.
  • Ability to think outside the box for creative designs to suit event needs.
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs and maneuver equipment at various heights, sometimes using automated lifts.
  • Preference given to Aboriginal Peoples in accordance with the Aboriginal Employment Preference Policy of the Canadian Human Rights Commission.
