JOB SUMMARY:           
The purpose of the Banquet Housperson position is to set, maintain and refresh hotel banquet meeting rooms according to sales contract and company standards.
To ensure cleanliness and organizations done in a timely manner and to assist supervisor during large functions.
 
ACCOUNTABILITIES:  The Banquet Houseperson must refresh rooms on time, have water in rooms, and have rooms clean and set for appropriate functions.
 
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
 
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • High School diploma and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
 
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT:
  • Tables, chairs, linen, dolly, flat car, brooms, vacuum, trash liners, Shampoo machine and buffer, trolley cars for six foot and eight foot tables, dolly cars for chairs, conference equipment, dance floor, airwall and key for the airwall, risers and podiums.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Long hours sometimes required.
  • Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
 
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
 
OTHER ABILITIES, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE:
  • Good spatial abilities helpful.
  • Server training course helpful.
 
DUTIES & FUNCTIONS
 
ESSENTIAL:
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner in accordance with hotel standards.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with New Castle standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper business attire and nametag when working.
  • Comply at all times with New Castle standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Clean and set banquet and meeting rooms for functions. 
  • Arrange tables, chairs, etc. to proper specifications.
  • Transport and store tables, chairs, and other equipment.
  • Keep banquet and meeting rooms clean.
  • Deliver water, glasses, etc. to rooms as needed.
  • Clean and break down rooms when functions are complete.
  • Shampoo carpets and upholstery.
  • Polish brass and metals.
  • Read and comprehend BEO’s.
  • Attend all training sessions and department meetings.
  • Maintain proper inventory of cleaning supplies.
  • Maintain work ethic and be accountable.
  • Perform side work duties.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and storage areas.
  • Knowledge of proper recycling and food waste processing.
 
MARGINAL:
  • Clean windows.
  • Keep storeroom neat and orderly.
  • Other duties as required.
