SALES MANAGER
This position is responsible for developing new prospective and repeat top accounts by researching, regularly and strategically prospecting, and building relationships to contract guestroom and food & beverage to exceed revenue goals for the hotel. This position requires an energetic, enthusiastic, and results focused individual who enjoys selling and working with many different people.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Actively developing and promoting new business for our two hotels
- Keep accurate records of customers and follow through on all potential business
- Quote and negotiate business within established parameters and processes
- Utilize Opera Sales System to track, solicit, book and follow-up accounts
- Utilize Ideas Revenue Management system to maximize revenue
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required
- Participate in hotel sites and industry trade shows
- Participate in prescribed training and special projects as required and long term goals
- Responsible for achievement of outlined sales activities and productivity quotas
- Contribute fresh ideas and influence the development of the Hotel strategic plan
- Participate in sales meetings, departmental meetings, and regional meetings as required
- Participate in professional industry groups which will benefit the properties in Halifax
- Actively participates in industry events/business organizations to promote our properties
- Development and execution of quarterly action plans, including set activity and revenue targets.
- Ability to multitask administrative and operational assignments
- Live our Vision, Mission & Values with all internal & external community members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 2 years hotel Sales experience
- Post-secondary education in Hospitality Management, Commerce or Business Administration
- Must be results oriented with an ability to be flexible
- Strong organizational skills and time management skills
- Professional presentation, excellent communication skills and ability to close a sale
- Energetic, enthusiastic and self motivated
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential
- Passionate and creative with selling
- A keen sense of responsibility to help grow the culture of the team
- Financial aptitude an asset
- Team player with a positive attitude
- Thorough knowledge of Social Media, Computers & Opera account management an asset
- Driver’s license and Ability to travel is an asset
