The Restaurant Server provides fast, friendly and efficient service by suggestively selling menu items, taking drink, appetizer, entrée and dessert orders and insuring that guests receive great service throughout their meal. Performs side duties including folding napkins, cleaning silverware, cleaning trays, restocking stations, breaking down service area/buffets, using cleaning compounds, making coffee, and other duties as required.
  •  Greets guests, explains special of the day, explains menu using concise and articulate language, and listens and responds to questions.
  • Ability to maintain a calm and positive approach to the guest experience while in a high stress environment.
  • Suggestively sells appetizer, entrée, desserts, drinks and wine menu items by describing each item; describes each item in an appetizing way.
  • Ring order in promptly so that orders can be prepared within the prescribed time.
  • Picks up orders and delivers orders on a tray (weighing up to 20 lbs.) to guests at the table within prescribed time limits.
  • Checks back during the meal to ask if guests are satisfied, a check for refills, suggestively sell additional items and clears (pre-bus) miscellaneous items from the table, and delivers guest check.
  • Performs service duties for other servers in the dining room by picking up their orders when ready in the kitchen and delivering them and checks other tables and provides assistance.
  • Communicates with guests demonstrating confidence and encourages them to feel unique and special.
  • Performs duties that require organization, speed, efficiency, and bending and lifting.
  • Handles multiple priorities, works under stress and exercises good judgment when dealing with guest situations and complaints.
  • Always be on time for your scheduled shifts and Comply with Holiday Inn service philosophy.
  • Do what you can to help ensure an efficient, smooth flowing restaurant. Know floor plan, reads server station assignments and knows table numbers and section.
  • Performs duties that require standing and moving throughout the dining room for up to 6-8 hours.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
 
-      Minimum 1 year previous server experience required.
-      Reliable and flexible to varied work shifts (days, evenings, weekends, and holidays)
-      Must be able to work independently and as part of a team atmosphere.
-      Energetic and outgoing individual who is well organized and can perform multiple tasks.
-      Must be able to productively work in high pace environment.
-      Display a professional, friendly manner and be committed to providing exceptional guest service in a high stress environment.
-      Must be of legal age to serve alcohol.  Knowledge of NS liquor laws an asset.
-      Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system. Previous experience with MICROS is considered an asset.
-      Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
-      Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food frequently weighing up to 20 pounds.
-       Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.
-       Mixology experience an asset.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
-      High School Diploma.
