We are looking for a Duty Night Auditor
 
Basic Purpose 
Under the direction of the Night Manager (or Guest Services Manager), this individual will fulfil the duties of Night Auditor:  ensuring that exceptional service is provided by problem solving concerns, ensuring effective communication and following up as required with various guests and departments.  In the absence of the Night Manager, this individual, as Duty Night Auditor,  will lead & direct the overnight team.
 
 Night Auditor Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Perform the duties of a Guest Services Agent in addition to the below 
  • Prepare, check, and correct room rate variances by conducting thorough audits 
  • Ensure wake-up calls are set for the morning and check the control sheet to ensure accuracy 
  • Prepares, verifies and balances daily charges for all departments to customer folios, master accounts and house accounts 
  • Runs the nightly processing sequence to reset systems for the next days’ use 
  • Prepares and transmits credit card deposits 
  • Review all credit card vouchers for proper imprints, authorization, ad correct amounts 
  • Distribute reports to the applicable departments
  • Balance the rooms audit;  record and balance staff and house charges
  • Keep team informed of all problems, emergencies and unusual matters of significance 
  • Adheres to all established credit and inventory control procedures
  • Balances the guest ledger postings to the restaurant audit guest ledger
  • Audits, records and balances food & beverage income postings and charges
  • Present statement of charges to departing guests and receive payment
  • Monitors customer accounts to insure adherence to hotel credit limits by completing high balance report and verify accuracy of registration information
  • Identify and record special billing instructions and notify Finance
  • Improve timeliness of cash flow by adhering to all credit and inventory control procedures 
  • Minimize loss of revenue by adhering to all established credit and inventory control procedures
  • Ensure the security of keys, company and guest information,  and the hotel itself
  • Report unsafe work conditions, areas requiring repair or suspicious persons
  • Understand and practice the correct usage and storage of cleaning agents in line with health and safety regulations and manufacturers’ instructions
  • Understand and follow hotel emergency procedures
  • Treat each individual with respect;  foster a cooperative, productive, positive environment  
  • Work and communicate in a professional and ethical manner
  • Assist coworkers where necessary
  • Assist with team member orientation and training as required
  • Maintain standards of punctuality, uniform presentation and personal hygiene 
  • Attend meetings as required and recognize the importance of contributing new ideas and initiative to the overall success of the operation
  • Communicate and cooperate effectively with all departments  
  • Provides a favorable image of SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts and the Brand to the public by consistently demonstrating SilverBirch Values (Engagement, Quality, Performance, Integrity and Growth) and Brand Values
  • Other related duties and projects as assigned
 
Additional Duties & Responsibilities as Duty Night Auditor would include:
  • Lead First Response in emergency situations: fire, power outage, flood, and bomb threat.
  • Playing a lead role in resolving escalated guest service issues on the back shift.
  • Providing leadership for the Night Audit team and leading by example.
  • Contributing to regular coaching sessions with team regarding performance & standards.
  • Assisting with scheduling, training and career development of Audit team members.
  • Ensure the days’ financial numbers (including credit cards) are balanced and correct.
  • Ensure all reports needed for statistical information are run during the shift and prepared for daily distribution and ensure accuracy of all reports.
  • Seek opportunities for continuous improvement in the Night Audit function.
 
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required: 
  • Excellent guest service 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written 
  • Strong computer and telephone correspondence abilities with previous experience using Microsoft such as Word and Excel 
  • Highly organized, able to multi-task and detail oriented  
  • Works well under pressure and without supervision 
  • Able to perform well in a fast-paced environment 
  • Energetic, honest, self-motivated and flexible 
  • Ability to communicate with a wide variety of people 
  • Reliable, punctual and dependable with strong teamwork skills 
  • Able to sell the services of the hotel 
  • A valid driver’s licence;  the ability to drive manual (standard) vehicles is an asset.
 
Preferred Education & Qualifications: 
  • 1 years previous guest service or accounting experience is required
  • Previous supervisory experience is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to train, motivate, develop and performance manage team members
  • Previous professional experience requiring the use of a computer is required
  • Previous experience with a property management system and Microsoft Word is an asset
  • Diploma in hospitality is an asset
  • WHMIS training can be provided by the hotel 
  • Ability to communicate verbally and written in English
 
Working Conditions: 
  • Primarily work with minimum supervision 
  • Sometimes exposed to frequently open doors to the outside 
  • Fast paced environment that is often demanding 
  • Stand, walk and remain on feet to perform job duties for entire shift duration 
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling and stooping 
  • This is an overnight shift from 11pm to 7:30am. 
  • Available for working a variety of shifts including weekends, and statutory holidays.
