Sales Coordinator
The Best Western Plus Chocolate Lake Halifax is looking for a highly motivated, confident self-starter, and creative Sales Coordinator to join our team.  This position will solicit, negotiate and book new and repeat business in the business current markets through various efforts.
The Sales Coordinator will report to the Director of Sales (DOS) and will work closely with the hotel's sales & events team.
  • Perform all general administrative duties for the sales office such as, answering phones and emails
  • Meet assigned market segments budgeted sales and profit margin by soliciting, selling and confirming business as required.
  • Fielding sales leads- for incoming group, wedding and event inquires
  • Outbound sales and customers visit as requested includes but not limited to outbound telephone calls and written correspondence
  • Generate and distribute group resumes, file important documents and communicate relevant information
  • Create and revise contracts, create bookings in hotels systems, ensure follow-ups on bookings
  • Conduct site inspections for prospective clients.
  • Serve as a backup for Conference Services Manager in her/his absence
  • Other duties as assigned by DOS
  • Attend trade shows and sales blitzes to develop new business and maintain established customers
  • Develop plans, special sales activities and promotions; including all social media platforms.
  • Generating and maintaining reports as defined.
  • Tracking sales team production
  • Ensure proper handling of each VIP booking: room allocation, organizing amenities, correct billing
  • Other responsibilities include building solid business relationships with companies, creating innovative means for attracting and retaining groups.
  • 1+ year Administrative/Customer Service experience preferred
  • 1+ year hotel experience – sales or revenue experience a plus
  • Knowledge of yield management techniques
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, attrition and commissions
  • Must have exceptional customer service, written, communication, and time management skills
  • Must have the ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers
  • Ability to develop and deliver formal presentations on behalf of the hotel
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Exceptional service skills, with strong ability to foster effective relationships with all levels of staff, management and clientele
  • Ability to successfully prospect for new business and sustain current business
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines 
  • Ability to travel
  • Knowledge of Opera and or Salesforce would be considered an asset.
