We are in search of a dynamic Director of Sales at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Bedford-Halifax. The successful candidate is passionate, service driven, customer focused and determined to outperform the competitors.  Our Director of Sales is a Sales Leader who will develop a strong sales culture throughout the hotel while also being a strong leader on our management team. The primary role of Director of Sales is to solicit new or continuing business for the Hotel. You ensure the Hotel meets revenue goals in primarily Corporate Business Transient, corporate group, government transient and group segments, while also developing meeting room business.

  • Responsible for all Sales actions. This includes development and administration of the sales, marketing and revenue management plan besides sales prospecting and completion of sales calls. Responding quickly to changing market conditions and revises strategies accordingly. Maximizes room revenues by; anticipating and planning for market shifts; participating in appropriate local and national sales/marketing programs/efforts; developing strategic marketing prospects and alliances and developing annual marketing plan.
  • Responsible for maintaining Brand Sales initiatives, training, and communications with the Global Sales Team.  
  • Responsible for the development of new local accounts. Build meaningful customer loyalty through client partnerships and industry networking. Maximize account revenue penetration through effective use of sales resources 
  • Identify, solicit and qualify new strategic accounts in all markets to develop definite bookings and leads.
  • Negotiating contracts, ensuring that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented.
  • Aggressively pursuing new accounts on a weekly basis
  • Developing long term business relationships with Destination Marketing Organizations.
  • Making on-site and field presentations to prospective clients
  • Attending tradeshows
  • Represent company at Community events
  • Consistently meeting or exceeding sales goals
  • Stays abreast of competition and industry developments
  • Participates and leads the rate and inventory initiatives, including but not limited to participating in revenue management meeting.
  • Responsible for achieving personal sales activities (outside calls, sites, networking, entertainment, prospecting calls and referrals to sister properties)
  • Quoting and negotiating prices within established parameters and processing/negotiating contracts.
  • Participation in creative site inspections.
  • Develop sales strategies and action plans towards achieving maximum revenue penetration for each account.
Responsibility & Authority:
  • Responsible for the overall revenue performance of the Hotel in all controllable segments
  • Annual creation of sales budget and sales & marketing plan
  • Creation and implementation of sales focused road map with specific measurable targets and action items to attain these
  • All communications to and from the Brand Global Sales team
  • Completing and utilizes all required Brand training facilities
  • Use of Delphi.fdc for tracking of all sales activities, bookings and LNR/KNR accounts
  • Reporting and notifying General Manager of sales activities and efforts on a regular basis
  • Responsible for adherence to sales expense budgeting, and company purchase policy.
  • Creating and submitting monthly expense reporting and back up in a timely manner.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven success as a Director of Sales in a Branded property
  • Demonstrated ability to exceed sales goals
  • Proactive sales approach; assertive and fast-paced, driven to succeed
  • Track record of developing long term relationships
  • Ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of Google
  • Knowledge of various PMS a plus
  • Local Market experience an asset
