Job Description:     Front Desk Manager
Incumbent:          
Reporting to:           Hotel General Manager
 
General description:
The Front Desk Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the front desk. Manages all duties of the front desk operation, including reservations and guest
services. Responsible for staff training, inter-department communications, and staff scheduling.
The Front Desk Manager will have the ability to become a system expert of the property management system and to master the standards put forth by the hotel and Best Western International. 
 
Standard duties including but not limited to:


• Monitoring guest rooms and public areas to ensure standards are
 maintained
• Ensure correct staffing levels during peak and low occupancies
• Authorize all leave schedules
• Monitor departmental budgets.
• Be an ambassador for Best Western programs and standards and ensure they are embraced by all staff
• Performs administrative duties.
• Attend Management Meetings.
• Supervise and ensure completion of all duties of Front Desk Staff
• Prepare work schedules for  Front desk staff bi-weekly basis,
  ensuring timelines are kept and within allotted budget limits.
• Ensure proper supply levels are maintained and ordered in a timely manner.
• Trains front desk staff on proper revenue management procedures, including successful selling techniques, current specials and/or promotions, and rate structures
• Supply payroll information for processing on a timely basis.
• Proper controls and monitoring of all inventories and supplies.
• Is first contact on all staffing issues, keeping the General Manager informed.
• Promote teamwork, communication.
• Conduct employee interviews and evaluations.
• Follow disciplinary process when required, ensure proper documentation is
 completed.
• Ensure strong communications between all departments.
• Notify maintenance of any deficiencies found in any areas and ensure they are
  addressed.
• Report all accidents and incidents, logging all information.
• Adjust daily staffing levels and priorities according to business levels. Performs front desk and room attendant duties when required
• Work front desk and manager on duty shifts as required.
• Other duties as required
 

Qualifications:
  • Diplomaor Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Food Service Hotel/Restaurant Management preferred; or Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of three years hotel supervisory experience.
  • Strong leadership skills, including ability to motivate and manage a staff of 10 ppl.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills and ability to perform a wide variety of tasks during busy, sometimes stressful times.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Previous experience in both a front desk and housekeeping supervisory role is an asset.
  • Strong Computer skills
